Cuthbert Gets New Seats
The city-managed
The 4,500-capacity shed’s seating, which currently includes aging wooden benches and grass seating, is set to receive a $220,000 facelift with new fixed seating and an expanded lawn area by May 1, according to the local Register-Guard.
The amphitheatre is an anomaly, according to the paper, with most patrons jostling for position on the lawn, leaving the wooden benches empty.
Specifically, the upgrades will include 1,300 new stadium seats near the stage, with the remaining lawn area filled with terraced turf seating.
City facilities project manager Meredith Fox told the paper the new stadium seats will offer organizers the opportunity to sell reserved tickets.
The first show on the books at the Cuthbert following the renovation is Lifesavas May 16.
