Oasis Nixes China Plans
The Gallagher brothers won’t be playing “Wonderwall” in the land of the Great Wall. Or, for that matter, any other songs in the Oasis catalog. The Brit band’s April tour of China has been canceled.
Concert organizers announced the cancellation after ticket sales for the band’s two China appearances – April 3 in Beijing and April 5 in Shanghai – were halted on February 28.

No reason was given for the cancellations, and there has been no word on whether the band’s April 7 Hong Kong gig is still on.
Nor is there any indication the Chinese government might have played a hand in canceling the dates. The government attempts to regulate all live music performances, and has been cautious about which bands and artists play the mainland after Bjork embarrassed the government by shouting “Tibet” at the end of the Icelander’s Shanghai performance in 2008.
Refunds are to be offered later, according to ticket site Emma.cn.
