Bon Jovi To Be Taken Literally

How many bands do you know of that have a book and a documentary scheduled for release?

But then, New Jersey’s Bon Jovi isn’t like most bands. The band formed in the early 1980s has touched fans like few bands have. Hit albums, top-selling singles and sold-out concerts have shaped the band’s history, making Jon Bon Jovi & Company one of the best-known groups ever to successfully chase the ever-elusive rock n’ roll dream.

And now the band wants a headlining slot on your living room coffee table. “Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful,” scheduled for an October release by HarperCollins Publishers, promises to be the official, end-all tome about one of New Jersey’s greatest musical legacies.

Published by the company’s Collins Design imprint, the book will include plenty of photos to stir the ol’ memory circuits. What’s more, the book will also include several personal glimpses as Jon Bon Jovi, along with Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres, tell “behind-the-scenes” stories of the band that’s “rocked them all” for almost three decades.

But the book is only part of the story. In fact, it’s somewhat of a companion piece for a film by documentary filmmaker and photographer Phil Griffin.  Griffin traveled with Bon Jovi on its 2008 “The Lost Highway Tour,” enjoying unprecedented access to all band members’ private and public lives.

With both a book and a documentary scheduled for an October release, we’re sure you’re probably thinking what we’ve been thinking since we first heard about the tandem projects – perfect Christmas presents for all the Bon Jovi fans we know. Including ourselves.

“We are honored to be collaborating with one of the most successful bands in rock history,” said Marta Schooler, publisher of Collins Design. “Bon Jovi’s continuing success has been no less than remarkable and we are thrilled to be publishing the must-have book for all their fans.
