Have Heart

Two greats of the Americana scene have recently undergone heart surgeries but hope to get back on the road soon.

Guitar virtuoso Buddy Miller suffered chest pains during his “3 Girls and Their Buddy” tour with Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin and Patty Griffin and reportedly underwent bypass surgery at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins hospital.

He appeared with Alison Krauss and Robert Plant during the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards, and was part of their touring band

And former Plimsouls frontman and songwriter Peter Case underwent open-heart surgery in January in Los Angeles. His performance schedule is on hold while he recovers, including a 25th anniversary show at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica.

Supporters are planning a benefit concert and have formed the Hidden Love Medical Relief Fund to help defray his medical costs.
