Is Chris Brown Kids Choice Material?

While Chris Brown’s endorsements may have dropped him after his alleged assault on girlfriend Rihanna, Nickelodeon is sticking by the R&B singer’s side.

Nickelodeon says it has no plans to remove the 19-year-old singer as a nominee for its annual Kids’ Choice Awards, which are scheduled to take place March 28.

An online petition, which had collected 6,556 signatures as of Tuesday, asked Nickelodeon to remove both Brown and Rihanna as nominees.

The network says Brown was nominated based on his work as a performer and it’s up to the kids to decide who wins, according to the Associated Press.

Fair enough, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Except things aren’t looking too good that it wasn’t Brown whodunit.

Hopefully the kids make the right choice and shut Brown out of the awards. Well, whether Brown wins favorite male singer or favorite song, one thing is almost for certain – he won’t be going home with the Wannabe Award. The award, which is not voted upon by the kids, is presented to the best celebrity role model or inspiration.

If Brown shows his face at the award show, maybe he could be slimed. Now there’s an idea. But I guess that’s supposed to be some sort of an honor, huh?

And in other Brown/Rihanna news, apparently the couple has not only reconciled, but is working on a duet with producer Polow Da Don in a Santa Monica, Calif., studio, according to Spin. That’s crazypants.

Brown is accused of assaulting Rihanna early Feb. 8, hours before the couple was supposed to appear and perform at the Grammy Awards. They were both no shows at the event.

According to court documents, an argument between the couple began Feb. 8 after Rihanna read a text message on Brown’s cell phone from “a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with,” as reported by CNN.com.

Brown punched Rihanna while driving, bit her, put her in a headlock and threatened to kill her, according to detective’s notes from the scene of the assault.

After being charged with felony counts of assault and making criminal threats March 5, Brown’s arraignment was delayed until April at the request of his lawyer.

Rihanna requested, through her lawyer, March 5 that the judge not prohibit Brown from having contact with her while he faces the assault charges. The judge granted the request.
