Bob Dylan & The Dead To Rock Rothbury
Although owners of the festival’s site filed for Chapter 11 federal bankruptcy protection within two weeks of the inaugural 2008 fest, Rothbury is once again begin held at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Mich., July 2-5. The bankruptcy was because of millions in debts unrelated to the festival.
Additional artists on this year’s lineup include Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley & Nas, STS9, G. Love & Special Sauce, Gov’t Mule, Broken Social Scene, Yonder Mountain String Band and The Disco Biscuits. There’s also Les Claypool, Cold War Kids, John Butler, Chromeo, Ani DiFranco, Matisyahu, Guster, Girl Talk, MSTRKRFT and Flogging Molly.
Rothbury has over 66 confirmed artists on its list with additional acts being announced in the next months.
The festival is offering fans different camping experiences to match its diverse lineup. Patrons can choose from beach-front and forest sites and sleeping options including safari tents, teepees and additional camping packages.
This year continues its environmental crusade with the 2009 Rothbury Think Tank, which will feature roundtables discussions regarding the “New Green Economy” between leading scientists, scholars, writers, progressive political and corporate and youth leaders, Rothbury artists and fans.
The festival is also challenging itself to a near zero-waste concert by replacing disposables with 100 percent compostables and through recycling, composting, clean energy, carbon-offsetting and Green Ticket options.
