50 Cent and Fall Out Boy Team Up
“This will be a major moment in music history,” 50 Cent told MTV News. “Joining forces with Fall Out Boy, one of the most dynamic rock bands in the industry, will be an exciting and historic event for rock and hip-hop.”
After wrapping up a few European dates, Fall Out Boy will be rocking audiences across the states for the Believers tour from the Mesa Amphitheatre in Mesa, Ariz., April 3 through a show at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minn., May 17.
Cobra Starship, Metro Station, All Time Low and Hey Monday are also hitting the road as alternating opening acts for FOB.
50 Cent is bringing his brand of hip hop to the mix at shows including the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver (April 14), the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas (April 17), the Showgrounds at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas (April 18), Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. (April 24) and Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. (April 25).
Pete Wentz, who handles bass and vocals for FOB, told MTV the guys are excited to team up with Fiddy.
“We’ve been fans of 50 since we heard ‘Wanksta’ in ‘8 Mile,’ ” Wentz said. “We’ve wanted to do something with him for awhile, and having him out on the tour is gonna take the show to a whole new level. It’s exciting to bring two different genres together and give the fans a new experience.”
Guess the pop-punk and hip hop combination isn’t that weird – Linkin Park and Jay-Z teamed up for a similar concert in LP’s Projekt Revolution tour. And Jay-Z’s appearance at last year’s Glastonbury Festival certainly worked out well for the U.K. event, which took a chance in adding a hip hip act to its list of rock and alternative headliners.
50 Cent also told MTV he plans on releasing two albums this year, right after Eminem releases his two albums in 2009. Eminem’s Relapse is set to hit stores in the end of May so 50 Cent said his new album, Before I Self Destruct, will come out in June.
Once Eminem releases Relapse 2, 50 Cent will be ready to release his second album of 2009 a month later. What a copycat!
