M.I.A. Added To Coachella Lineup
Winehouse was forced to pull out of the annual fest earlier this month “due to current legal issues,” according to a spokesman. The Times of London reported that the U.S. government is denying the singer a work visa. She was also recently charged with assaulting a fan during London’s End of Summer Ball in September.
Since M.I.A. pulled off a stellar performance at this year’s Grammys Feb. 8 while very pregnant – and on the day of her actual due date, no less – I’m sure she’ll be able to handle the desert heat at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., AOK.
This year’s edition of Coachella takes place April 17-19. Additional artists being featured at the fest include Paul McCartney, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, Leonard Cohen, Atmosphere, The Ting Tings, The Cure, Girl Talk, Beirut, My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Brian Jonestown Massacre.
Coachella once again walked away with the prize for Music Festival of the Year at Pollstar’s 20th annual Concert Industry Awards Jan. 30.
Tickets to the fest are available at Coachella.com.
If you plan on attending all three days of the fest, tickets will set you back $269 plus a $3 charity fee and applicable service fees. Single day tickets are available for $99 plus a $1 charity fee and applicable service fees.
