Simon & Garfunkel, Guns N’ Roses Rumors and More

On Friday we ended the day by debunking a Stone Roses reunion so why don’t we take off where we left off and begin the week with some more tour rumors.

After Art Garfunkel joined Paul Simon onstage at the Beacon Theatre in NYC in February, he told BBC News the duo’s “plan to work together is coming together but it doesn’t go through Europe this time.”

CNN.com is now reporting Simon and Garfunkel are planning to tour Asia and Australia with the tour kicking off in New Zealand around the first week of June. Dates in Australia and possibly Japan could be added to the books after that.

CNN said “a source close to the group” tipped off the news organization although an official announcement has not yet been made.

Simon and Garfunkel last joined forces for their “Old Friends” tour in 2003 and 2004, along with a one-off date in September 2005 at Madison Square Garden Arena in NYC.

After calling it quits in 2004, Creed may be another band once again hitting stages near you. Gibson.com reported there was a teaser video for Creed’s upcoming reunion tour on CreedOfficial.com but the band has since pulled the clip. The site now just features a blank television screen promising, “Coming soon, stay tuned!”

The tour was rumored to kick off this summer. Fans can sign up for the band’s new mailing list on CreedOfficial.com.

Joan Baez may have recently let the cat out of the bag about a summer tour featuring Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp.

After playing “Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right” at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, Ind., Rolling Stone reported Baez looked over at Mellencamp, who was part of the crowd, and said, “Mellencamp? Are you really going to go on tour with that guy? Seriously, come talk to me after the show.”

RS noted that Mellencamp wrote on his Web site: “A special tour is in the works, slated to start in early July and run through the end of August. It will play at minor league baseball fields, with John sharing top billing with two other major artists.”

Dylan fan site BobLinks.com predicts Willie Nelson is probably going to be the third artist along for the summer fun.

Guns N’ Roses and Van Halen are also rumored to be teaming up on tour this summer, according to HitsDailyDouble.com.

Gibson.com pointed out Irving Azoff recently said, “We have some exciting things in the works this year for GNR” – and it’s possible plans could include Van Halen as Azoff manages both artists.

Lastly, despite rumors that Madonna might run away to Britney Spears’ Circus tour, that’s a pairing up that’s not going to happen any time soon.

An individual named David Alexander, an alleged stylist for Britney, was responsible for spreading the rumors to celeb mag In Touch, according to MTV.com.

Britney’s official Web site released the following statement: “Despite rumors otherwise, at the moment Britney has no plans to collaborate with anyone in the near future at any of her upcoming performances. PS- David Alexander is not Britney’s stylist nor have we ever heard of him.”
