Carolina Crossroads Changeup

Changes are coming to the Carolina Crossroads Amphitheatre in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., thanks to a March 19 agreement establishing new operators and a new name.

Venue owner Roanoke Rapids Entertainment has entered into an agreement with Atlantic One Entertainment to manage the venue, a deal that could reportedly lead to its ownership, according to the city’s Daily Herald.

Atlantic One officials are said to be ready with plans to make the cotton field into a permanent amphitheatre, with permanent restrooms and other upgrades in store.

“We saw an opportunity to breathe new life into that amphitheater and wanted to match the diversity of performers with the diversity of residents and commuters that live around and travel the I-95 corridor,” Atlantic One exec Charles Elliot told the paper. “Our research indicated the area could accommodate world-class acts from every genre of music.”

So far, the newly christened Atlantic One Amphitheatre has REO Speedwagon and Styx with 38 Special on the books June 20. A $1 “Stimulus Concert” is planned for May 16, introducing Atlantic One Amphitheatre to the community with local and national performers in a festival setting.

It has previously hosted acts including Willie Nelson, Trace Adkins, Delbert McClinton, Gretchen Wilson, The Charlie Daniels Band, Zac Brown Band, Boston and Styx.
