AC Entertainment’s Great Big Deal

AC Entertainment, the Tennessee co-creator of the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, has announced some super-size news with its acquisition of Nashville-based promoter Great Big Shows.

The agreement is expected to strengthen AC Entertainment’s presence in Music City and expand its resources for event creation, management and production nationwide.

“This is an exciting step for our company,” said AC Entertainment president Ashley Capps in a statement. “Our business is continuing to grow, and this move positions us for the next phase as we develop new event concepts and grow the management side of our business.”

The first show on the books for the new venture is a co-headlining concert featuring the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic at Nashville’s Riverfront Park Oct. 14.

The relationship between AC Entertainment and Great Big Shows began more than 10 years ago when GBS owner Rick Whetsel enlisted Capps to book an event in Washington D.C.

The companies have collaborated on numerous events since, including AC Entertainment’s annual Sundown In the City concert series in Knoxville.
