ShoWare Center Not Just Green

Venues coast to coast have scored recent accolades for their efforts to go green.

The ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash., which opened in January as the nation’s first facility designed and constructed to target a LEED Gold rating, has been recognized with a Green Building of America award.

The SMG-managed venue was built with sustainable and recyclable materials and includes energy-efficient lighting, and low-flow showers and toilets.

Meanwhile, the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami and Philips Arena in Atlanta received LEED certification the same day as existing buildings that have made green improvements in accordance with the rating system.

Features at AmericanAirlines include a solar reflective roof, water-efficient landscaping and underground parking.
