Phil Spector Guilty
Today, after 30 hours of deliberation, the jury in the second trial announced that it found Spector guilty of murder in the second degree.
Clarkson was working as a hostess in the House of Blues’ exclusive Foundation Room in West Hollywood when she met Spector one evening. Later that same night Spector and Clarkson went to Spector’s mansion in Alhambra. Hours later she was dead from a gunshot wound to the mouth.
In both trials the defense argued that Clarkson, depressed over her lackluster acting career, took her own life, while prosecutors argued that Spector’s long history of threatening violence toward women had finally taken a turn for the worst. The first trial, which took place in 2007, resulted in a deadlocked jury with 10 jurors voting for conviction.
