Pitt Sheds Open For Summer

While details surrounding the future of a proposed amphitheatre development in Pittsburgh’s Station Square are still unknown, a nearby suburban shed will once again host concerts following a two-year hiatus.

Promoter Joker Productions has announced plans to book shows this summer at the Riverplex Amphitheatre At Sandcastle beginning with Neko Case July 31 and John Legend with India.Arie Aug. 3.

Riverplex was set to undergo renovations and reopen in summer 2007. Live Nation had dismantled the Chevrolet Amphitheatre that sat on the Station Square site with plans to move it to the Sandcastle park, but the venue was never reconstructed following construction and permit delays.

Across the city at Station Square, PNC Entertainment Group’s plans to reopen the site appear to be moving forward, the city’s Post Gazette reported, with upcoming shows expected to be announced shortly.
