Lucinda Williams Gives Her Fans Some Credit

So you’ve scrounged up enough cash to pay for a concert ticket and cover those not-so-convenient convenience charges, but you don’t have quite enough left to buy a T-shirt or a CD. Bummer. Lucinda Williams thinks that’s not fair – because what’s a show without a souvenir?

To show support for fans suffering from this sucky sucky economy situation, the singer-songwriter is helping fans get their hands on some of her merch.

“I cannot, in good conscience, sit back and watch my fans get blatantly gouged.” Williams said in a statement on her Web site. “As an attempt to offset these fees, we are going to offer a standing credit at our merchandise table to everyone attending our upcoming US shows in 2009.”

Fans that attend a Williams show this year can hit up her merch booth at each venue and receive a discount worth approximately $7 on clothing and $5 on CDs. The offer is also good at her online store at lucindawilliams.com through July 31.

“I understand that this may only be a small gesture and in no way solves the problem long term, but I feel that it is important to try and do something to make it a little easier during this time,” Williams said.

Williams is currently touring the U.S. with dates on the books through mid-June. On July 11 she’ll be performing at the Bospop festival in the Netherlands.
