Paleo Goes In Record Time

It was always likely to be the Swiss festival least-affected by the economy, but Paleo-Nyon surpassed even its organisers’ expectations by selling out in a record-breaking 150 minutes.

“Do you know any other event selling so many tickets in such a short time?” asked festival press officer Christophe Platel, wondering how the Swiss event’s sales compare with the rest of Europe.

At its busiest, the box offices shifted 3,000 tickets per minute, with all 210,000 going in less than half the time it took in 2008. Last year was also a record, but it took six hours.

The acts appearing at this year’s Paleo-Nyon (July 21-26) include Placebo, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, Francis Cabrel, Franz Ferdinand, Moby, Tracy Chapman, Amy Macdonald, Snow Patrol, Rodrigo y Gabriela, White Lies, Ayo, The Ting Tings and Pete Doherty.
