MTV Sticks With Floriana

Having spent five years shifting its Isle of MTV outdoor around Europe, the TV network looks to have found its home in Floriana, Malta.

The July 8 event in the 3,000-population market town will be the third year it’s been held there. It’s been staged in Lisbon, Portugal (2002), Ile du Gaou, France (2003), Costa Brava, Spain (2004), and Trieste, Italy, in 2005. The event didn’t happen in 2006 and reopened in Malta in 2007.

The lineup for the 50,000-capacity gathering in Il-Fosos Square includes The Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa (who also played the 2008 event Metro Station) and Esmée Denters.

MTV’s cameras will capture all the action from Isle of MTV, one of the highlights of the network’s European summer music scene, which will be broadcast in an hour-long pan-European live special in September.

MTV Networks’ brands are seen globally in 578 million households, 162 countries and 33 languages via 168 locally programmed and operated TV channels and more than 400 digital media properties.
