What Britney Wants, Britney Gets
Artists’ riders usually have a confidentiality clause but CBS obtained Britney’s checklist from an employee on the hotel circuit.
Here’s what Britney wants at the hotel during her U.K. tour dates June 3-17, including a show at Manchester Evening News Arena:
* A room that has “never” been smoked in at all.
* Humidifiers in all areas.
* A selection of the latest magazines.
* A fresh selection of flowers that she will then arrange herself.
* DVDs of her favorite Marilyn Monroe movies.
* Books. Ideally, topical chick lit novels.
* Lighting must be 100 watt bulbs – no low lighting.
* Running routes for nearby Hyde Park. Also, horse-riding opportunities.
*A list of different routes to the venue from the hotel to keep the paparazzi at bay.
I love that Britney specified a room that has “never” been smoked in. You really can’t totally trust those nonsmoking rooms, now can you? And I think it’s great she’s keeping it real with the chick lit novels and not trying to fool anyone by asking for any Steinbeck or Shakespeare.
Britney has also requested tickets for a number of West End shows, including the Michael Jackson musical “Thriller,” and a “private” visit to Kensington Palace.
CBS noted that Britney’s security will sleep outside her room. Hmm. Like on the floor in the hall?

MSN Entertainment reported that Britney also requested a stripper’s pole to be installed in her hotel suite so she can skip the gym in favor of getting a workout through pole dancing in the privacy of her own hotel room. Now that sounds more like Britney.
The SmokingGun.com has gotten its hands on the backstage riders for 246 acts. This is what they dug up on Britney – in 2000 she wanted red Altoids, Doritos and General Foods International Coffee tins. She also asked for a private phone line in her dressing room but specified it would be unlisted and accept outgoing calls only. The rider noted that if the number was published or if any incoming calls were received, the promoter must fork over a $5,000 fine.
In 1999 she wanted her dressing room stocked with Froot Loops, Captain Crunch, and Pop Tarts while the band’s breakfast needs would be met with Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms. Oh yeah, and the band was going to need two buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
If you were a world famous pop star, what would you request in your dressing room and hotel?
