But that works out to $1,300 per ticket, which is still a bit pricey to see the rocker who’s often described as a “friend of the working man.” So, what’s the deal?

If you haven’t already guessed, yes, the $5,200 goes to charity, specifically the Food Bank of the State College Area. The tickets were sold at auction, resulting in Nicki and Dave Stinebring making the winning bid, according to the Centre Daily Times.

What’s more, before the auction took place, Springsteen promised to match whatever the winning bid turned out to be. That means the food bank stands to take in over $10,000.

Although the Stinebring family’s bid of $5,200 guarantees backstage access, that doesn’t mean they’ll have a meet up with The Boss. For that, they would have had to pay a bit more. A face-to-face with Springsteen was also on the auction block – with a starting bid of more than $10,000.
