Crane Topples In Orlando

A crane at the construction site of the new $380 million downtown arena for the Orlando Magic toppled May 4, falling into part of the structure.

No injuries were reported.

“One of the smaller crawler cranes’ boom failed and landed on the northwest side of the structure,” a Magic spokesman said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “A cable snapped while lifting a load which led to the crane boom landing on the structure.”

There was no substantial damage or work stoppage. The arena is expected to be completed in fall 2010.
