Rodgers, who stepped into the late Mercury’s basically unfillable shoes in 2004, recently told VH1 Classic Radio he and the band were through.

“We did a world tour, we did a second tour of Europe and the Far East and eastern Europe and a [2008] studio album, and I think we’re kind of leaving it there gently,” Rodgers explained.

In other words, it looks like everyone involved decided to get out while the getting was good following the less-than-spectacular performance of last year’s The Cosmos Rocks.

Queen’s swan song with Rodgers will be the upcoming Queen + Paul Rodgers Live In Ukraine, a CD/DVD package.

Don’t feel too badly for Rodgers though, he has another reunion to attend: Bad Company is back and preparing to tour the U.S.
