Platinum Peanut Butter

The student government at the University of Arizona in Tucson may have handed Jay-Z a $750,000 paycheck for his performance at a failed concert April 29 that lost the students nearly $1 million, but they had to draw the line somewhere.

A copy of Jay-Z’s rider recently published on the Smoking Gun Web site lists his numerous demands to headline Last Smash Platinum Bash, some of which the school nixed according to policy.

UA declined Jay-Z’s transportation request for a late-model black Maybach (the 57 or 62 model) with tinted windows, as well as his thirst for Sapporo beer, Belvedere vodka, Patrón Silver tequila, champagne and two bottles of 2004 Sassicaia, described in the rider as “red, Italian wine from Bolgheri region.”

Still, it never hurts to ask. The school was apparently able to compromise on some items on the rider, stocking Jay-Z’s dressing room with “tasteful living room” furnishings, as well as “good quality” peanut butter and grape jelly.
