Seal, Cannibal Corpse Dates

British soul singer Seal will make his Aussie live debut for Dainty Consolidated Entertainment with six theatre dates Nov. 5-20.
Soundworks Touring is bringing metal band Cannibal Corpse back for seven club dates Sept. 7-15.
Michael Coppel Presents keeps adding shows to British comedians French & Saunders’s July run. They are now up to 32 shows, including 10 shows in Sydney and eight in Melbourne.

Short Notes

AC/DC, Kasey Chambers, Gabriella Cilmi, Cut Copy and The Presets were among 11 Aussie acts honoured in Sydney May 13 by the Australasian Recording Industry Association. The ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards, now in its seventh year, honours local acts who reached the top of the trade body’s official charts with singles, albums and DVDs.

The 11 spent a combined 20 weeks at the top.

Alt-rock act The Grates have been picked up for U.S. representation by Danny Goldberg, whose roster includes fellow Aussie Ben Lee. The band is planning American shows this year.

The Dirty Three, The Drones and Bridezilla will appear at September’s ATP festival in NYC, curated by The Flaming Lips.

Vicki Maree Good, 24, one-time manager of Newcastle’s Civic Theatre, was sentenced to periodic detention for stealing $44,000 from the venue’s poker machines over the course of a year. She was ordered to pay back the money.

Dutch classical musician André Rieu, a phenomenon downunder, returned to promo in May on his fourth visit here in two years. A three-hour autograph session in Sydney attracted 4,000 fans.
