Lee Solters Dies

Lee Solters, 89, one of the best-known public relations executives in the business, died in his sleep in Los Angeles May 18.

Solters’ firm of 50 years was known at different times as The Lee Solters Company; Solters, Roskin & Friedman; and Solters & Digney.

Some of his more famed clients were Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson and Carol Channing, each of whom he represented for decades.

Solters was considered one of the top Broadway publicists of all time, repping producer David Merrick’s shows (“Annie,” “Hello Dolly”) plus shows for the Shuberts and Nederlanders. Solters’ son, Larry Solters, is a well-known publicist himself, whose Scoop Marketing is a de facto representative for Irving Azoff, Front Line Management, Ticketmaster, Eagles and REO Speedwagon, among others.
