Seeing Red Over Pink

The May 22 start of Pink’s hugely successful tour downunder has started off with a discordant note.

Her label Sony Music Australia is in “discussions” with major radio broadcaster Austereo over its new digital station, Pink Radio.

It is set to broadcast during the three-month tour playing Pink songs as well as her favourite tunes from other artists.

Sony, Pink manager Roger Davies and tour promoter Michael Coppel Presents were said to be furious they were not consulted over Pink Radio.

Austereo argued that it didn’t need specific approval, as it is paying broadcast rates.

Sony Music said that streaming music on the Internet requires a license, which Austereo does not have.
