Kanye Does It All — Predictions, A Book And A Benefit Concert
On Wednesday Kanye posted a paparazzi shot of Rihanna getting into one of New York City’s signature yellow taxis, praising the photographer for the cool shot of the star and the city behind her.
“Fresh Ass Picture!!! Yo why can’t all paparazzi photos be this good? Well obviously because most celebs aren’t Rihanna Lol! … But on the real, this pic is hardcore. Peep the perspective shot of the city in the back. Sometimes the paps overexpose the lens or have the flash too high taking all the emotion out of the moment. This moment is captured in time now.”
Man, I had no idea Kanye knew so much about photography! Is there anything this guy doesn’t know?! His blog is beyond amusing. Love it. He then continued his blog post to predict which artists will go down in history as legends, giving the heads up to the paparazzi to take care when snapping photos.
“I look at our current superstars like legends in the making. Like Justin [Timberlake] is the new Mike [Michael Jackson], Beyoncé’s the new Tina Turner, [Lady] Gaga’s Madonna, Jay[-Z] is Sinatra, [Lil] Wayne is Hendrix, Thom Yorke is Roger Waters, These are the champions and should be documented as such. That said, it would be dope if the paps operated with the same integrity and attention to their craft as the legends they photograph.”
Kanye’s advice doesn’t end with photog tips and legend predictions – he’s actually written an entire book full of recommendations and totally deep insights based on his personal philosophy.
“Thank You and You’re Welcome,” which is co-authored by J. Sakiya Sandifer, who wrote “Think Think Think and Think Again: The Power of Ideas Designed to Spark Change,” features topics such as “Get Use to Getting Used” [sic].
Here’s what Kanye has to say on the subject: “To most people, the saying ‘to use someone’ carries a negative connotation. But I don’t see it that way. To ‘mis,’ ‘over’ or ‘ab’-use someone is negative. To use is necessary. And if you can’t be used, you’re useless.”
Other topics include “The Missing Banister Theory” and “Be Leery of the Free Gift Bag!”
Kanye posted three pages from “Thank You and You’re Welcome” on his blog on Monday and the book is available for pre-order on his Web site for $10.
The author/rapper/shoe designer/photog expert is also making time to give back. In honor of his mother, Dr. Donda West, who passed away in 2007, and to encourage kids to graduate high school, Kanye is headlining Chicago’s “Stay in School” concert.
The event is a perfect match for Kanye because his mother founded The Kanye West Foundation to combat America’s severe dropout problem.
The second “Stay in School” benefit concert takes place at the Chicago Theatre June 11.
“I have always had the desire to help people and make the world a better place. I believe that youth are the music for creating a world filled with harmony. To create such a world, however, we must all do our part,” said West, who waived his fees for the concert.
