Kroenke Body Slammed

When Stan Kroenke upset Vince McMahon over a double booking, McMahon did what he knows best – he turned Kroenke into a wrestling villain.

Kroenke, who owns the Denver Nuggets and the Pepsi Center, is the public face of a paper shuffle. McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, made it clear he was upset that the Pepsi Center bumped the WWE’s Monday Night Raw event when it came clear the Nuggets would need that evening to whoop the Los Angeles Lakers.

McMahon’s public denouncement of Kroenke didn’t end when the Staples Center in L.A. offered to host Monday Night Raw instead. In the city of the Lakers, McMahon made the most of it.

A Kroenke impersonator, wearing a fake mustache and carrying a basketball, walked into the arena and explained why he didn’t want WWE in the Pepsi Center.

“I cannot stand the WWE or its fans, for that matter,” the imposter said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Do you think I care that I screwed thousands of fans? I have much more important things to do with my time. … I’m a respected tycoon/billionaire. I’ve been vilified by the WWE, the media and every one of you.”

Next up was a photo on the video screen, with Kroenke in devil’s tail and horns, and McMahon wearing a halo. The real McMahon walked out and made a sly reference to his failed XFL football league.

He announced the formation of the XBA that would fail miserably because, “I will have [Kroenke] and your staff run it,” according to the Times. “All you had to do was pick up the phone and explain that [you] didn’t expect [your] team to make the playoffs.”

It went downhill from there, with the good McMahon finally pushing the evil Kroenke through the ropes.
