Tuscaloosa Shed Bids Discussed
Tuscaloosa, Ala., city officials are reevaluating a proposed amphitheatre project after construction bids came in higher than expected.
Out of six companies the lowest base bid of $14,176,823, submitted by J.T. Harrison Construction, was above the city’s budget of $12,657,305 with a $1 million contingency. Other bids ranged from $14,495,000 to $15,157,849.
The city council will go over all bids to determine the scope of the project and make a decision in the near future.
The proposed amphitheatre, to be programmed by Red Mountain Entertainment, will feature 7,100 seats, a fully equipped stage and backstage areas, suites and VIP room.
The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in summer 2010.
