Let There Be Lighting
Lighting designers got a scare recently when Texas State Senator Kip Averitt introduced a bill in the state legislature that would have disallowed LDs from practicing their trade in Texas.
The Texas State Legislature passed the legislation, which required LDs to be architects, engineers, electricians or other trades people.
The International Association of Lighting Designers urged legislatures to rethink the bill and it now has a “technical adjustment” that will be part of the law, if signed by Gov. Rick Perry.
“The bottom line is that lighting designers will be able to continue to practice in Texas,” IALD said in a statement.
