The Pretenders summer tour begins in Rama, Ont., with a two-night stand at the Casino Rama Aug. 4-5, followed by Wallingford, Conn., at the Chevrolet Theatre Aug. 7; Hampton Beach, N.H., at the Casino Ballroom Aug. 8 and Asbury Park at the Stone Pony Summerstage Aug. 9.

Other stops include New York City at the Central Park Summerstage Aug. 10; Boston at the Bank of America Pavilion Aug. 12; Upper Darby, Penn., at the Tower Theatre Aug. 13; DC at the Warner Theatre Aug. 14 and Harrisburg, Penn., at The Forum Aug. 15.

The last date on the schedule is Sept. 4 in Rancho Mirage, Calif, at the Agua Caliente Casino.

The Pretenders summer tour is in support of the band’s ninth album – Break Up The Concrete. The album, which was recorded in only 12 days, bowled over critics with a sound reminiscent of the band’s beginnings in the early 1980s.

Cat Power – a.k.a. Chan Marshall – and Juliette Lewis will be on some, but not all dates, with some shows including one but not both tour guests. Plus, a few stops feature The Pretenders only. In other words, this is one schedule you really need to eyeball before deciding which show you want to see.
