Fillmore Charlotte Debuts

The long-awaited opening of the 2,000-capacity Fillmore Charlotte will take place June 19 as part of the North Carolina Music Factory complex in Charlotte.

Also making its debut is the 5,000-capacity Uptown Amphitheatre, with both venues run by Live Nation.

Developers Rick and Noah Lazes of ARK Group told the Charlotte Observer that opening the live music venues is another step forward in their plan to re-create the atmosphere of New Orleans’ Bourbon Street or Memphis’ Beale Street.

The estimated $40 million development is expected to add a comedy club and several bars are tentatively set to open this fall, the paper said.

The Uptown Amphitheatre debuts June 13 with The Fray, followed by shows from The Offspring, Jason Mraz, Counting Crows and Chickenfoot through late August.

The Fillmore Charlotte debuts with Corey Smith followed by Plain White T’s June 20. Honor Society, Edwin McCain Band, The Black Crowes, B.B. King and KMFDM are also on the books through Oct. 28
