Phil Anschutz officially moved forward with purchasing conservative newsmagazine The Weekly Standard June 17.

Anschutz’s Clarity Media Group, which publishes the Washington Examiner and San Francisco Examiner, said Anschutz was buying the mag from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. at an undisclosed price.

Weekly Standard editor William Kristol praised Murdoch in a statement but said the magazine was pleased to join the Anschutz group.

There are no plans to change the staff or content of the magazine, according to a spokesman.
