Flaming Lips Announce Dates, ‘Concert Bundle’

The Flaming Lips made summer a little more interesting today with the announcement of new August dates as well as a special music package for their ticket-buying fans.

The band has a new album coming out later this year – Embryonic – a double-album set marking the first full studio release in three years. What’s more, fans will have a chance to sample the yet-unreleased effort before the August shows.

With every concert ticket purchased online, fans will receive a digital EP containing three tracks from Embryonic – “Convinced Of The Hex,” “The Impulse,” and “Silver Trembling Hands” plus three rare B-side tracks personally chosen by the band.

And if that’s not enough to make you boot up your computer, those purchasing tickets online will also get a digital download of the show they attend, facilitated by online distribution company Basecamp Productions.

The special music deal is for the band’s August dates ranging from Aug. 17-30. The band’s August 15 appearance in Del Mar, Calif., is the part of the Del Mar Summer Concert Series and does not include the music offer.

Which brings us to the dates. Aside from the previously mentioned Del Mar stop, look for the Lips at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles Aug. 17; the Fox Theatre in Pomona Aug. 18; McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheater in Troutdale, Oregon (Near Portland) Aug. 20; Marymoor Amphitheatre in Redmond, Wash., Aug. 21 and Red Rocks outside Denver Aug. 23.

Additional dates include Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta Aug. 26; Merriweather Post Pavilion in Landover, Md., Aug. 28; Festival Pier in Philadelphia Aug. 29 and BofA Pavilion in Boston Aug. 30.

Stardeath and White Dwarfs support on all dates. For more information, please click here for The Flaming Lips Web site.
