Jimmy Buffett is no longer the only entertainer involved with the Miami Dolphins.
Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio have bought a stake in the NFL team, which now play in Landshark Stadium, named after Buffett’s beer brand.
The National Football League and the Dolphins are trying to reach out to the growing Hispanic community of South Florida, a source told the Miami Herald, and the Estefans would act as ambassadors. Emilio is a longtime Fins fanatic, with hall-of-famer Dan Marino his favorite player, the Herald reported.
Buffett, who alongside Gloria Estefan is one of South Florida’s more famous musicians, recently struck a one-year deal with the Dolphins where the team’s stadium would be renamed Landshark Stadium and will include a Margaritaville area with the goal of bringing Buffett’s “unique culture” to games.
The stadium is expected to host the Super Bowl in February.
The Estefans had no comment and a Dolphins spokesman told the paper the team would keep mum until the June 25 announcement.
