MuchMusic’s Night Includes Awards

The MuchMusic Video Awards – the northern exposure equivalent of the MTV Music Video Awards – were held outside MuchMusic’s headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, June 21 and most of the prizes went to Nickelback.

The Canadian rockers were tied with newcomer Danny Fernandes with five nominations apiece. Nickelback won best video, best rock video and best post production. Fernandes walked away with one trophy.

The Jonas Brothers, who co-hosted the event, also got a nod for international video. Other winners included The Midway State, Black Eyed Peas and Billy Talent.

Most of the press, if not focusing on a fracas at an afterparty involving blogger Perez Hilton and allegedly the tour manager for the Black Eye Peas, focused on the performance of Lady Gaga, whose stage outfit included well-placed fireworks.
