Fillmore Charlotte Debuts

Live Nation officially unveiled a new Fillmore in Charlotte, N.C., June 19.

The 20,000-square-foot, 2,000-capacity venue launched with Corey Smith and upcoming shows included B.B. King, Gov’t Mule, Collective Soul and The Black Crowes.

The Fillmore Charlotte, located in the North Carolina Music Factory entertainment complex in the Fourth Ward, is the largest nightclub of its kind in the region.

“As a Top 10 market for Live Nation, Charlotte is the perfect city for a brand-new Fillmore,” Live Nation South East President Wilson Howard said in a statement. “Like the original Fillmore, music fans can expect to get a healthy dose of rock ‘n’ roll history while seeing their favorite bands. It’s the kind of venue that Charlotte music fans are going to love.”

Live Nation also built the nearby 5,000-capacity Uptown Amphitheatre, and the N.C. Music Factory includes the 1,500-capacity Front Stage along with various bars and restaurants.

The Fillmore Charlotte has exposed ceilings, wood floors and a roof that was raised above the staging area to accommodate the sound and light systems. It also includes the Fillmore’s customary red velvet draperies, chandeliers, and vintage concert posters. The VIP areas include granite countertops.

The building is a historic Charlotte manufacturing site and includes original materials and wall finishes.
