Sky Saxon Dies

Sky Saxon, lead singer and bassist for The Seeds, died at St. David’s South Austin Hospital June 25 after being admitted for an undisclosed illness.

Saxon fell ill June 18 in his new home in Austin, according to a statement, yet performed a short set at Antone’s that Saturday. Doctors suspected an infection of the internal organs and Saxon was treated with dialysis, according to the statement.

The Seeds song “Pushin’ Too Hard” is considered a forerunner to the ’60s garage band movement.
