Desmond Happy With Oxegen

The first day was 4,000 short of a sellout but MCD chief Denis Desmond was more than happy with Oxegen Festival July 10-12 as the second and third days reached their 80,000-capacity.

“The whole market has been slow,” he told Pollstar, indicating he was as happy with this year’s result as he’s been with the recent three-day sellouts.

Desmond said one of the remarkable things about this year’s event was the way the Punchestown horse racing track site and the crowd stood up to the almost constant rain on the second and third days.

Acts appearing at Oxegen included The Killers, Blur, Kings Of Leon, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Paolo Nutini, Lily Allen, Keane, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Pendulum, Nine Inch Nails and Pet Shop Boys.
