The duo will warm up for a tour in support of the new album with a handful of appearances including July 25 at XPN Fest at Wiggins Park in Camden, N.J., September 13 at Union County Music Fest at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, N.J., and October 1-2 at Hart Theatre at The Egg in Albany, N.Y.

TMBG’s run of kids’ shows kicks off, appropriately, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City on October 4.

Other cities on the family friendly trek include Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Here Comes Science, the follow up to 2008’s Here Comes the 123s, will be released September 1 as a 2-disc set exclusively at Amazon and digitally on iTunes, with a full-scale release set for September 22.

Aimed at the post-toddler set, but just as likely to appeal to grown-up TMBG fans, the album tackles a variety of scientific ideas in tracks like “Photosynthesis,” “Meet the Elements” and “I Am a Paleontologist.”

Each song on the album will get its own video, which will be added to TMBG’s “They Might Be Giants Video Podcast” on iTunes in August, with a new song featured each week.
