Tom Jones Sick, Postpones Dates

According to an announcement on Jones’ Web site, the Welshman contracted the disease while on tour, and his doctors have ordered rest for a “prescribed period of time.”
Jones was scheduled to play tonight at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. Other postponed dates are Boston at the BofA Pavilion July 25; Hyannis, Mass., at the Cape Cod Melody Tent July 26; Bethel, N.Y. at Bethel Woods July 27; Vienna, Va., at Wolf Trap July 29; Asheville, N.C., at the Biltmore Festival July 30; and Atlanta, Ga., at Chastain Park July 31.

“Sir Tom contracted viral bronchitis whilst on tour. He continued to perform with the infection, which has affected the function of his voice. His specialist doctors have now ordered complete vocal rest for a prescribed period of time. There are no underlying health problems and Sir Tom is looking forward to a full recovery very soon. He is deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused and very much regrets disappointing his fans. An announcement will be made soon regarding the rescheduling of the dates.”
Jones’ next scheduled engagement is a two-week stand at the MGM Grand Hollywood Theatre in Las Vegas beginning Aug. 6.
