Gotta have It Rock & Roll Pop Art Auction

Back on April 7, 1977, Elvis Presley wrote out a check for $100 to Aurelia Dupont, who sometimes did The King’s makeup for him. Check number 161, signed E.A. Presley and with the memo section noted as “Services Rendered,” can now be yours for a few bucks more. OK, a lot more. The minimum bid on the Gotta Have It!® Collectibles item starts at $3,000.

The Rock & Roll Pop Art Auction, which includes 489 items from major names in rock ’n’ roll such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, The Who, Madonna and Bob Dylan, is being held on gottahaverockandroll. Bidding kicked off today and runs through Aug. 5.

The auction features 136 Beatles items, everything from John Lennon’s jacket and pants worn in “A Hard Day’s Night” to a Pan Am First Class flight menu signed by the Fab Four to a candid photograph of Paul McCartney taken by his wife Linda.

You can also bid on 20 Jimi Hendrix items including one of his earliest known recording contracts, which he signed for $1. The contract, dated Oct. 15, 1965 and in which Hendrix’s first name is spelled “Jimmy,” was signed between the guitar god and producers PPX Enterprises of New York for Hendrix to play and sing exclusively for three years. Hendrix not only received $1 in exchange for signing away three years of his life but “one (1) percent of retail selling price of all records sold for his production efforts, minimum scale for arrangements he produces.” Minimum bid is set at $200,000.

If you’ve ever wondered what type of phone messages Madonna leaves you can bid on two cassette tapes containing 17 minutes of messages the Material Girl left for her bodyguard/love interest James Albright back in 1992 and 1993. Minimum bid on the tapes start at $25,000.

Or you can bid on the custom made bustier Madonna wore on her “Like a Virgin” tour. There’s also a “very personal and intimate” home video of Madonna and a few of her castmates shot while in a hotel room during the making of the 1993 film “Dangerous Game” (the working title was “Snake Eyes”). The 15-minute video is entitled “1 SNAKE EYES ‘WIFE SWAP FOOTAGE'” and was given from Madonna to then boyfriend Albright.

Other collector’s items up for sale include Bruce Springsteen’s denim Lee brand jacket (with both sleeves cut off) worn on his “Born in the USA” 1984/85 tour, Mick Jagger’s custom made cream sequined jacket or Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett’s worn black and white Guess brand loafers (Euro size 40/41).

Then again, maybe a life-size prop of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 terminator used in the 1991 film “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” is more your style. Minimum bid starts at $100,000.
