From Hip Hop To Horror
Earlier this month, 50 Cent finally opened up to MTV with some details about the project, which was first announced in May.
“That one’s coming up soon,” 50 told MTV. “It’s me and Forest Whitaker. I actually just spoke to his agent yesterday.”
Filming on the latest adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella is scheduled to begin at the end of the summer.
Although he would seem the logical choice to play the villainous Mr. Hyde in a modern day version of the story, 50 Cent played coy with MTV about his role at first.
“Ah, so you assuming?,” he asked. “I don’t know, you know?
“Yeah, I’m supposed to play Hyde. It’s gonna be intense.”
50 also admitted that he’s excited about working with the film’s director, Abel Ferrara, whose work includes “The Driller Killer,” “King of New York” and “Bad Lieutenant.”
“Are you familiar with Abel Ferrara? ‘Bad Lieutenant’?,” he asked MTV. “It was so amazing. So, then you understand that the director we chose for this [‘Jekyll’] project is the kind of guy that has an eye for real cutting-edge, really in-your-face material.”
Hmm, wonder what’s next? Marilyn Manson in Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”? Kid Rock in Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”? Tiny Masters of Today in Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw”? How about Brandon Flowers or Rufus Wainwright in Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray”?
