Britney, Miley Top Teen Choices

Britney Spears may have been the “ultimate choice” for a Teen Choice Awards surfboard, but plenty of other music figures were also honored at the event at L.A.’s Gibson Amphitheatre Aug. 9.

Miley Cyrus could start up her own surf team with her collection of hardwood with her five awards. In addition to a win for choice music single for “The Climb” and shared awards with the Jonas Brothers for “Before the Storm,” Cyrus was cited for throwing the best movie “hissy fit,” best actress in movie music/dance for “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” choice TV show comedy for the Disney channel series “Hanna Montana” and for TV actress comedy for her work on the show.

And just for good measure, dad Billy Ray Cyrus won the Teen Choice Award as best “TV parental unit,” also for Disney’s “Hannah Montana.”

The Jonas Brothers, Miley’s former tourmates, were winners in multiple genres as well. The trio won for TV comedy actor for “Jonas,” which also picked up the award as best TV breakout show. Frankie Jones joined the pack as choice TB breakout male star. The JoBros also collectively hung 10 as red carpet fashion icons.

But in strictly music categories, there were plenty of other teen choice surfers.

American Idol David Archuleta picked up three surfboards, for choice music breakout artist and music tour, which he shared with Demi Lovato, and choice love song for “Crush.”

Beyoncé was a double winner in choice music R&B and music R&B track categories, Jason Mraz was named choice male artist and won choice album by a male artist for We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. Taylor Swift was choice female artist and choice female artist album for Fearless, and Paramore was choice rock group and music rock track for “Decode.”

Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West each one a surfboard and Lady Gaga shared one with Colby O’Donis for “best hook-up.”
