Broomfield’s Deal Discussions

A management deal months in the making at the 7,100-capacity Broomfield Event Center in Colorado continues to stall over negotiations.

While a partnership composed of Anschutz Entertainment Group and Kroenke Sports Enterprises was chosen by city officials to operate the venue in June, a contract has yet to be signed.

However, city attorney Bill Tuthill told the Broomfield Enterprise the delay doesn’t mean discussions have headed south.

“There are quite a few moving pieces and none of them have come to rest,” Tuthill said. “These are the types of things that don’t get resolved with just a handshake.”

The city council is expected to evaluate the contract in a series of upcoming meetings, with plans to finalize the agreement by Aug. 25. But Tuthill said that date might come and go without a decision.

The venue remains dark during the negotiation period.
