Neverland Rides Still Fairly New

The California State Fair’s Web site declared that the fair is “Weird Wild & Wacky” in 2009. Organizers weren’t joking: this year’s event features four rides from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Valley Ranch.

The rides are being brought in by Butler Amusements, which purchased the attractions from Jackson and his Santa Barbara Country, Calif., ranch last year.

Butler lists the rides under the “Kiddie Rides” category and include “Balloon Sama,” “Jeeps,” “Swings,” and “Dinosaurs.”

Balloon Sama is a ride that looks like a series of hot-air balloons, Jeeps features miniature vehicles on a track, and Swings is a “speedy swingset that whips riders in a circle,” according to MTV News. Dinosaurs is “eight revolving dinosaurs and elephants that passengers can control and make the animal go up or down,” according to a statement.

The California State Fair takes place at the Cal Expo fairgrounds in Sacramento. The festivities kick off Friday and run through Sept. 7.

On every Friday night of the fair, he first 5,000 people through the gates are expected to get a free ride on one of the Four Neverland Ranch rides.
