Club Helsinki Closing

It’s last call for Club Helsinki in Great Barrington, Mass., which is closing its doors after 15 years Aug. 31.

The small club (approximately 100 capacity) with a storied past hosted a variety of acts during its time, from Guy Davis and John Scofield to Shawn Colvin, Jonathan Richman and Tom Tom Club.

“We would like to say thank you to all our friends and supporters, all the artists and musicians who ever walked through our doors, to everyone who appreciated something singular and homemade from our kitchens, to all the children we raised and to anyone in the press who found the work we do to be an important voice in the Berkshires and beyond,” club reps said in a statement.

Despite the closing, it may not be curtains for Club Helsinki just yet.

Richard Stanley, who owns the building that houses the venue, told the local Berkshire Eagle the club’s owners are in discussions with another operator.

“Hopefully it will be a dynamic concept with the ability to attract different types of people to our town,” Stanley said.
