O’Riordan and the original members of The Cranberries, on hiatus for almost seven years, have decided to re-form.

“I’ve decided to reunite with my former band members in The Cranberries and we will be writing new songs and performing tracks off my new album as well as our greatest hits during the shows,” O’Riordan said.

The decision came after a January gig at Dublin’s Trinity College featuring the singer and band members Noel and Mike Hogan.

The performance, which marked O’Riordan’s induction as an Honorary Patron of Trinity’s Philosophical Society, was the first time The Cranberries’ members had seen each other since 2003.

Playing together made the group realize how much they’d missed working together.

“Over the last few years, each member of the band has had time to work on different projects and learn so much from their experience,” guitarist and co-songwriter Noel Hogan explained. “Now the time is right for The Cranberries to bring all of this together and move forward.”

The re-formed Cranberries will hit the road in North America at the end of the year and move on to Europe in early 2010. Dates are expected shortly.

No Baggage, on which O’Riordan wrote and co-produced every track, is out today.
