Stroke Debuts In Tokyo

Strokes lead singer Julian Casablancas made his much-anticipated solo debut at the opening party for the new Opening Ceremony retail complex in Tokyo Aug. 29.

OC founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim hired Casablancas to perform songs from his upcoming solo album, Phrazes for the Young, at a VIP party at a performance space in the store.

It’s much larger than its New York and Los Angeles counterparts and is located in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo’s youth shopping mecca.

Two days later, Casablancas made his public performance debut at Duo Music Exchange, a relatively small club also located in Shibuya.
