‘Sound Relief’ DVD
Nine hours of footage from the Sound Relief fundraising concerts in Australia will be released on a 4-DVD set through Michael Gudinski’s Liberation Music.
Gudinski’s Frontier Touring was one of four promoters that staged the shows in Sydney and Melbourne in March.
Aussie favorites were joined by visitors Coldplay, Jack Johnson and Kings Of Leon.
“Sound Relief” won best special event at the Helpmann Awards, staged last month at Sydney’s Star City by Live Performance Australia.
Frontier’s Leonard Cohen tour won international contemporary concert honours, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu won Australian contemporary concert, and Vivian Lees and Ken West’s Big Day Out was voted best music festival.
Gudinski, who was lauded on the night for his contribution to the live sector, was surprised by the reunion of Skyhooks, a ’70s phenomenon he managed.
