Tonight’s Nine Inch Nails Show Postponed

The bad news: Trent Reznor is too sick to rock out and has been forced to call off tonight’s Nine Inch Nails show at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theatre. The good news – although Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg recently split with the band, the guys have found a temporary frontman to fill in during next month’s

Nine Inch Nails announced the show would not go on in a posting on the band’s Web site.

“We’re very sorry to announce that Trent is ill, and on his doctor’s orders we will not be able to perform tonight’s show at the Henry Fonda Theater. This is the only information we have at this time, we’re posting this early announcement as a convenience for those of you who had plans to attend. Reimbursement details will be posted as soon as we figure them out; likely within the next 24 hours. We wish this wasn’t necessary and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.”

The posting didn’t specify whether the show would be rescheduled or canceled.

After previously announcing back in February that Nine Inch Nails’ tour with Jane’s Addiction would be the band’s last U.S. tour, Reznor then announced in July that NIN would play a number of shows in medium to small venues in NYC, Chicago and LA as “New Final NIN Dates.”

Renzor added that the shows really would be the band’s last, explaining, “these should be cool, unusual and unique shows and I hope you come out – this is it.”

Tonight’s show would have been the Nine Inch Nails’ second of four shows in Los Angeles. Last night NIN played Los Angeles’ Palladium and on Saturday the band is scheduled to perform at The Wiltern followed by a Sunday show at EchoPlex.

Speaking of another band that formed way back in the late ‘80s, Pennywise has announced that Zoli Teglas, frontman for OC hardcore/punk band Ignite, will be stepping up and manning the mic during Pennywise’s Oct. 24 set at the 2009 SmokeOut Festival in San Bernadino, Calif.

“As everybody knows, Jim has left the band and we’re looking for a new singer. For the time being our friend Zoli has agreed to fill in for Jim for a couple shows to avoid having to cancel them while we look for a permanent replacement,” Pennywise’s Fletcher Dragge said.

“I’m stoked to be singing these upcoming shows with Pennywise. I’m a huge fan of the band and am super grateful to share the stage with my long time friends Fletcher, Byron and Randy,” Teglas added.

This year’s SmokeOut also features performances by Cypress Hill, Slipknot, Deftones, Sublime, Redman & Method Man, Goodie Mob, Bad Brains, Geto Boys, Immortal Technique and Kottonmouth Kings.
